THE SHORT ANSWER
The publisher targets The Bible for You at children from approximately four years of age and The Bible for You at children from approximately nine years of age. The second book is a sequel, but can be read independently.
What is the difference in use?
The Bible for You is intended for a young introduction to Bible stories. Reading together is an obvious choice. The Bible for You follows well-known and lesser-known Biblical figures and offers older children the next step. In both cases you read retellings, not a complete Bible translation.
Age is a starting point
An age indication is not a reading test. A nine-year-old may enjoy being read to, while a younger reader already recognizes many stories. Therefore, read a story out loud and discuss it. See whether the length, choice of words and amount of events suit your child's attention span.
The makers and the order
J.H. Mulder-van Haeringen wrote both books. Hanneke van Oostrum illustrated The Bible for you; Thomas van Oostrum The Bible for you. You don't have to finish one book before you can open the other. Choose at the current reading moment, and possibly use well-known stories to explore a full translation later.
