Marc Zvi Brettler is a Biblical scholar who, together with Amy-Jill Levine, compiled the original English edition of Nieuwe Testament met Joodse toelichtingen. The Dutch edition uses the NBV21 and contains introductions, notes and essays on the Jewish background. Brettler's name belongs to the scholarly composition of that original edition, not to the writing of the New Testament books of the Bible. Anyone who chooses this study edition can therefore first read the Bible text and then consider what historical or religious context the explanation adds.
