Choosing Bibles

HSV or NBV21 Bible in a year: what do you choose?

THE SHORT ANSWER

First choose the translation that you like to read every day. Then assess the distribution of the texts and the performance. The HSV annual Bible divides the complete text over 365 days with three passages per day.

A yearly classification is a tool

An annual Bible takes some of the planning off your hands. That can help with regularity. At the same time, alternating between text parts can take you out of a longer story. Ask yourself if you like that variety. You can also read the same issue at a slower pace; the year on the layout is not mandatory.

Translation comes before the schedule

If you are familiar with the HSV and want to continue using that text every day, then the HSV annual edition makes sense to view. If you prefer to read NBV21, then rate that annual Bible. Don't take a translation that you find difficult just because the cover is nicer. Regular reading becomes easier if both text and layout appeal to you.

Note its use in addition to daily reading

A Bible with texts in daily order is not always the most convenient book for quickly browsing during a church service. If necessary, have a regular edition available for this. Also compare the HSV paperback and hardcover version. The women's edition uses the same translation; Decide for yourself whether the design and format are your preference.

Issues to view

Choose based on your own reading purpose and, if in doubt, first look at the interior. These editions match the options above:
